SESSION Stage 02 — Finish

Master it at 3am. Book the human at 9.

Most tools make you choose: an algorithm that never explains itself, or an engineer you have to find, brief, and wait for. SESSION puts both in the same room, so the choice depends on the record instead of the hour.

Loud is easy. Finished is the hard part.

A one-click master that pushes your track to a target number is not the same as a finished record. The question was never whether it is loud enough — it is whether the low end survives a phone speaker, whether the vocal still sits where you put it, and whether anything got crushed on the way to the target.

Tonight

The engine masters it

The AI mastering engine hits streaming loudness targets and hands you the actual numbers — measured LUFS, true peak, and what it changed to get there. No black box, no guessing whether it did something you would have objected to.

Then

You A/B the reference

Mastering Compare puts your master against your reference track so you are judging with your ears against a known quantity, not against a memory of how the reference sounded yesterday.

When it matters

A person signs off

When the record deserves a human, the same workspace books the mix or mastering engineer — and they open a project that already has your stems, versions, and intent attached, so you are not re-explaining the song over email.

What you get back

Loudness report
Measured integrated LUFS and true peak, against the target you chose — not a vague quality score.
Mastering critique
A written read on what the engine did and why, so you can disagree with it.
Reference compare
Level-matched A/B between your master and a track you trust.
Engineer booking
Browse and book real mix and mastering engineers without leaving the project.
Full context handoff
The engineer receives stems, versions, and notes already attached to the record.

Questions people actually ask.

Is AI mastering good enough to release?

For a lot of records, yes — particularly for demos, loosies, references, and anything on a deadline. AI mastering is consistent, immediate, and free of scheduling. Where it still loses is on records with unusual arrangement problems or a specific sonic identity you are chasing, because those need a person making judgment calls. SESSION gives you the engine for the first case and a booked engineer for the second.

What LUFS should I master to for streaming?

Most streaming platforms normalize playback to roughly -14 LUFS integrated, so mastering far louder than that mainly costs you dynamic range without making you louder to the listener. SESSION reports your measured integrated LUFS and true peak against your chosen target, so you are working from numbers instead of guesses.

Can I use SESSION to hire a real mastering engineer?

Yes. Engineer discovery and booking live in the same workspace as the AI engine. Because the engineer opens a project that already carries your stems, versions, and notes, the brief is mostly written before the first message.

How is this different from LANDR or eMastered?

Those are dedicated mastering services and they are good at that one job. The difference is what surrounds it: in SESSION the master is attached to a record that is already timestamped and protected, whose versions are already organized, and whose splits and royalties are handled downstream. And when the algorithm is not the right answer, you book a person without leaving.

The rest of the record.

This is one rung. SESSION carries the same record through protection, mastering, storage, audience, and the money it earns.
